Heineken 0.0 hops ahead of the competition

Heineken’s non-alcoholic beer is now available on tap in 1,000 pubs nationwide – more than any other 0.0 brand in the UK. To celebrate the achievement, they set a new Guinness World Records title for the most people pulling a pint online simultaneously.

Footballing legend and Heineken 0.0 Ambassador Gareth Bale joins Heineken Group Commercial Director Nick Marks and Heineken Trade Director Will Rice to celebrate the unveiling of Heineken’s 1,000th tap installed at the Clerk & Well pub.

Heineken has officially unveiled its 1,000th Heineken 0.0 tap in the UK, making it the most widely available no-and-low alcohol draught drink in the country.

They marked the feat by setting a new world record. In just 10 seconds, 114 publicans and brewers from across the UK simultaneously poured pints of either Heineken or Heineken 0.0 via a mass video call.

The historic 1,000th tap was installed at London’s Clerk & Well Pub and was unveiled by Welsh footballing legend and Heineken’s 0.0 ambassador Gareth Bale.

Headquartered in Edinburgh, Heineken is the UK’s leading beer, cider and pub company, owning 2,400 pubs and including brands such as Birra Moretti, Amstel and Strongbow.

Nationwide appeal

Since its launch just three years ago, Heineken’s lager is now available in one in every three pubs across the UK, part of their mission to normalise alcohol-free beer by making it more accessible.

Over a third (33.5%) Of UK adults drink no-and-low alternatives more frequently now than a year ago. Will Rice, on-trade director for Heineken UK, said: “If we want non-alcoholic beer to be treated the same as other beer, we need to give it the same visibility too.

“We won’t be stopping at 1,000 taps. The more taps, the better for the public and the better for publicans.”

Bale, who played for both Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, said: “As a bar owner, it’s fantastic to see 0.0% beer taps becoming the norm, taking their rightful place on the bar alongside traditional beer taps.

“I was delighted to see so many pubs taking part in setting this world record. It represents a great show of support for pubs and in giving the public what they want.”
