Woodford Reserve launches across US

Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked Bourbon – one of the most sought after bottles of American Whiskey, which has previously only been available at the distillery, where it has sold out in hours of its release – is launching in limited quantities across fine wine merchants across Kentucky for the first time.

Originally launched as a member of the Distillery Series in 2015, the 90.4 proof whiskey is produced by finishing a fully-mature Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon for an additional two years in a second, heavily-toasted, lightly-charred, new oak barrel. This extra time in the barrel is intended to creates a bourbon that is spicier than its original expression, which is widely known for its sweeter taste and finish.

Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall, who joined the Brown-Forman owned brand as Master distiller in February 2023, called the release “rare and revered” with “a deep richness, unlike any other American whiskey on the market”.

“Resting 5-7 years in the first barrel, then up to two years in a second barrel, this liquid features extraordinary flavour notes,” she added. “It is unexpected and complex.”

The latest Double Double Oaked expression, which has previously only available at the distillery, launched in limited quantities in a number of Kentucky-based fine wine merchants for the first time as of this week, as well as at the Woodford Reserve Distillery yesterday (13 January) available in 700 ml bottles with a suggested retail price of $199.99.

As well as being listed in a number of Kentucky retailers, it is also available for shipping to clients in Kentucky, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and the District of Columbia, via the distillery’s online store.
