We’re on a mission to discover the best wines under £10
The Global Wine Masters is thrilled to announce its first ever competition dedicated to a price point – the Global Under £10 Masters.
While it’s exciting to assess, enjoy and promote top-end drinks, the majority of wine sold worldwide is priced below £10. It’s why we, as wine professionals, get asked most often what the best wine is around £10.
To help us answer that question, and promote outstanding wines at accessible prices, db has launched a blind-tasting competition designed specifically to reward the best wines at £10 or under.
The competition is open to any wine, as long as it is priced at around £10 in a retail setting in the UK, or $15 in the US. That does not mean it has to be available in the UK or the US, but it must have an ex-cellar price low enough to be able to hit a price point on the shelf of around £10 in these major wine markets (with a leeway of £5 either side considered acceptable to allow for differing margins according to retail type etc).
Professional tasters
As with all Global Masters, the wines will be judged blind by some of the best palates in the trade, from professional tasters to experienced buyers, whose sole focus is to assess a wine’s quality relative to price.
The wines will be judged loosely according to style, with the primary aim to discover the best white, red, rosé and sparkling wines at around £10, free from regional bias.
With the results allowing us to definitively answer ‘what are the best wines for around £10?’, we believe that this wine tasting will be the most commercially-relevant competition in the world.
