Château Larrivet Haut-Brion appoints new general manager

Château Larrivet Haut-Brion has appointed Charlotte Mignon, former cellar master and director of development as the new general manager of the estate.

Mignon, who first joined the Pessac-Léognan estate in 2020 as cellar master before taking on the role of director of development in 2022, succeeds Bruno Lemoine, who served as general manager at the estate from 2007. She took up her new role in January this year.

As the Gervoson family, the owners of Château Larrivet Haut-Brion commented, Lemoine had been “remarkably dedicated” to Château Larrivet Haut-Brion since 2007, leading a technical renewal of both the vineyard and the winery, that “elevated the wines to their highest potential”.

This included undertaking a comprehensive soil analysis, implementing new production methods focussed on micro-parcel vinification, and building a new operational winery. These evolutions led to a widely recognised increase in the wine’s quality and precision.

The change in leadership would continue that evolution, the family said.

“We are delighted to appoint Charlotte Mignon as general manager. The projects she passionately champions mark a new phase for an estate we have proudly owned for nearly 40 years.”

Since arriving at Larrivet Haut-Brion, Mignon has initiated several projects to increase the precision of the estate’s wines and preserve its rich ecosystem. Among these is the ambitious Vineyard of the Future, an initiative spanning decades, which involves uprooting a 12-hectare plot to implement Vitiforestry principles, integrating trees, hedges, and flower beds within the vineyard to create a biodiversity haven and safeguard the wine’s quality for the future.

Replanting is scheduled for late 2026, with nearly 10% of the area dedicated to Malbec vines, a new addition to the property.

The project aims to produce a terroir-driven wine by 2040 that addresses climate change challenges, reflecting the estate’s commitment to sustainability and innovative viticulture.

Mignon brings an extensive range of international experience to the role. After a stint at a wine importer in Brazil, she began her career in 2012 as Maison Krug’s brand manager in New York, before representing the international estates within the Moët Hennessy group. She later shifted her focus to production, obtaining her National Diploma in Oenology (DNO) in 2019 while training at Château Léoville-Poyferré.
