Simon Rogan to reopen Hong Kong restaurant
British restaurateur Simon Rogan will be reopening his Michelin-starred restaurant Roganic at a new location in Hong Kong, with the soft relaunch taking place next month.

Rogan, known as the figure behind acclaimed restaurants including L’Enclume in Cartmel (three Michelin stars), has also expanded far beyond his Cumbrian stronghold with openings in Asia, including two branches of his chef’s table concept Aulis (one in Phuket, Thailand, and the other in Hong Kong).
In February 2019 he opened Roganic HK, an offshot of the now closed London restaurant of the same name, in Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay district, and just 10 months later it received a Michelin Star, and then a Michelin Green Star in 2021. The Michelin Guide commended the tasting menu’s “deceptively simple dishes that burst with flavour and amazing textures, a nod to the chef’s philosophy and ethos” and seasonal cocktails.
Both the Hong Kong branches Roganic and Aulis closed in September of this year ahead of the move. The former has found a new home at Lee Garden One, also in Causeway Bay, while the latter is due to reopen at its new address early next year. The Lee Garden One skyscraper is about a 1o minute walk from Roganic HK’s original location.
When he announced the closure, Rogan said: “The time has come to change things up a little, and after five years, we gained a great understanding of the city and our customers. So, with Roganic 2.0, we will have the opportunity to adjust our offering to an ever-evolving Hong Kong audience and are very excited to push the boundaries even further in the years to come.”
“At the new Roganic in Lee Garden One, we’ve made some changes to our menu format to ensure that we are continually evolving and staying ahead of dining trends,” Rogan revealed in a recent Instagram post. “We’ll be stepping away from the traditional tasting menu and will, instead, serve an interactive set menu that features a selection of dishes that are designed to be shared by the entire table.”
“The menu will still present our take on city-centric farm-to-table dining but will introduce a little more fun and allow you to decide how your evening unfolds, set your own pace and make the meal your own,” he added.
After “a preview period” in December, Roganic HK will fully reopen for business in January. The new dining room makes use of eco-friendly materials and “upcycled” furniture to reflect the restaurant’s ethos.
