Masi launches new Costasera art label in China

The renowned Amarone producer has launched the sixth edition of its CCA artist labels to the Chinese market with ASC Fine Wines. The fine wine importer hosted a wine dinner in Shanghai for the Valpolicella winery on 23 October 2024.

Masi first launched this special edition label in the Italian Embassy in Tokyo on 1 November last year.

The winery selected Japanese lacquer artist Yasuhiro Asai, a master of traditional Japanese “urushi” art, for the latest collaboration.

His work, titled Saikou, meaning “the fragrance of Europe”, adorns a limited-edition release of Costasera 2005, crafted for the international market.

“I believe the meticulous care involved in creating the taste and bouquet of Costasera Amarone is an art form in itself, reflecting profound elegance,” said artist Yasuhiro Asai. “Inspired by this concept, I employed traditional techniques from my heritage to craft this artwork with a contemporary perspective, dedicating two years to its creation. The mother-of-pearl decorations, rendered in blue and purple tones, evoke the imagery of grape clusters.”

In addition to “Saikou”, ASC and Masi also presented the label for Masi’s Campofiorin during the evening.
