Jeroboams strengthens fine wine private client ambitions with acquisition
The Jeroboams Group is looking to strengthen its position in the fine wine and private client market after acquiring in-bond storage facility, wine storage, broking, and en primeur services from Davy’s Wine Merchants.
The purchase of Davy & Co’s private customer wine storage business and associated ex-cellar sales comes after the independent London-based group, which was founded in 1985, took a strategic decision to invest in the private client and fine wine market area of its business, four years ago, which has significant investments in its private client, on-trade and wholesale teams.
The new agreement with Davy & Co Ltd, which trades as Davy’s Wine Merchants will see the transfer of Davy’s fine wine storage, broking, and En Primeur services to Jeroboams Group Ltd.
Matt Tipping, CEO of the Jeroboams Group said the group was pleased to extend its core storage service in line with its ambitious projections for the direct-to-consumer and fine wine categories.
“Our business has many synergies with Davy’s – we are family-owned, fiercely independent, and uncompromising when it comes to customer service,” he said. “Our customers, and our teams, are at the centre of both our businesses and we are pleased to confirm that there have been no job losses as a result of this transfer. Moving forward, we will be Davy’s preferred storage provider. This means that any Davy’s customers who wish to store wines professionally will be referred to Jeroboams, and we in turn will provide the highest level of customer service.”
Davy’s chairman, James Davy, who is a 5th generation of the 158 year old company added that Jeroboams was “well-equipped” to provide exceptional service and care for its customers’ wine collections.
“We are confident that our customers’ wines will remain securely stored and meticulously cared for, and Jeroboams’ extensive expertise and broad range of services will ensure they continue to receive the highest level of support,” he said.
