Anniversary celebrations and trade fairs took centre stage across Asia in October, with key wine and spirits events taking place everywhere from Bali and the Maldives to Taiwan and Seoul.

ASC Fine Wines and Louis Jadot celebrate the centenary of Chateau des Jacques

ASC Fine Wines and Louis Jadot marked the grand finale of Chateau des Jacques’ centenary celebrations with an exclusive event at The Peninsula Shanghai on 16 October. The occasion capped off a series of global events commemorating 100 years of winemaking at the Beaujolais estate.

The centenary dinner featured a curated selection of vintages from Chateau des Jacques including Chateau des Jacques Morgon Côte du Py 2018, Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos du Grand Carquelin 2005 and Chateau des Jacques Moulin-a-Vent Clos de Rochegres 2017 and 1990.

Brown Forman brings Scotch to Shanghai

Stewart Buchanan, global ambassador for Glendronach, Benriach and Glenglassaugh at Brown Forman, hosted a series of masterclasses about the Scotch whisky brands in Shanghai. Held at House Welley Whisky Bar, Ye Shanghai and Dram Good Stuff, the masterclasses showcased The GlenDronach’s Batch 19 Single Cask Collection and different styles of Benriach and Glenglassaugh personally selected by Buchanan.

Nikka whisky’s 90th anniversary

To celebrate the launch of The Nikka Nine Decades for the distillery’s 90th anniversary, Emiko Kaji, education and global PR leader, led a masterclass at Club Batard in Hong Kong focused on Japanese whisky. The Nikka Nine Decades is a world blended whisky distilled at 6 distilleries over nine decades from the 1940s to 2020s, incorporating more than 50 distinctive batches such as oldest reserve from Yoichi and Miyagikyo, along with whiskies used for Nikka Discovery series.

Roseblood d’Estoublon’s APAC push

Roseblood d’Estoublon launched in the Maldives with events at various top resorts including Hard Rock and SO Maldives, an Ennismore property. In Taiwan the brand hosted intimate masterclass event with importer No Limit and Roseblood APAC brand ambassador Ian Ford. In Australia importer House of Fine Wine alongside Elysee Collective hosted a springtime launch event at iconic venue Promenade at Bondi Beach. The celebration took place on 16 October 2024 and was attended by 80 of Australia’s leading wine and lifestyle journalists together with influencers and key opinion leaders. Guests were hosted between the ocean facing terrace and tonal dining room with paired canapés alongside flowing Roseblood Rosé and a signature cocktail, ‘ROSEGARDEN’. The venue was transformed by event stylist Belinda from The Curated Life, taking inspiration from Château d’Estoublon, to create a French-style rose garden. As the sun set over Bondi, DJ Richy Penny set the mood with his curated soundtrack.

Seoul sips Hungarian wine

Wines of Hungary kicked off its campaign in Korea with a 50+ person event in Seoul which featured a sunset happy hour and wine tasting hosted by Nimbility’s head of Korea Sarah Soo-Kyung and Vera Szűcs-Balás, head of international relations at Wines of Hungary.

Viña Casa Silva visits Bali

Chile’s Viña Casa Silva featured as a leading brand at DSP’s Theatre of Taste Wine & Spirits Experience events. Pratham Wahi, Nimbility export director and Casa Silva brand ambassador for APAC, was present to pour wines for guests at the Bali edition of the event which targeted key trade customers from across the HORECA sector. This year marks the fourth instalment of the TOT event, which aims to transform the traditional wine trade show into a lifestyle event. The sub-theme for 2024 was “Wine and Spirits Experience”, reflecting a commitment to making the event engaging and enjoyable.

ProWine Shanghai

Ahead of ProWine Shanghai’s 2024 edition, which kicked off on 11 November, the team behind the fair came together on 16 October for a group celebration ahead of its inauguration. Renee Zhao, director of marketing and communication for ProWine Asia, and Josh Gu, project director of ProWine Shanghai and ProWine Hong Kong, came together to mark the occasion with their wider teams.
