Bordeaux Index celebrates success of The Great Wine Dinner and Auction
Bordeaux Index has celebrated a record-breaking fundraiser for charity Marie Curie, after hosting The Great Wine Dinner and Auction last week.
The event last Wednesday brought together wine enthusiasts, collectors, and philanthropists to support of Marie Curie’s essential work in end-of-life care, raising a record-breaking amount through the evening’s auction.
Bordeaux Index’s CEO and founder, Gary Boom, who chaired the committee this year, said he was thrilled by the generosity and enthusiasm displayed at this year’s event and thanked colleagues and friends across the industry, which included some of the world’s top wine estates and best restaurants, for their generous donations.
“We surpassed our fundraising expectations, setting a new record for the event in support of Marie Curie’s life-changing work,” he said. “The funds raised will help Marie Curie continue providing life-changing services for individuals and families when they need it most.”
The auction – which comprised a silent online auction as well as a live auction during the dinner, offered tours and tastings at some of the most prestigious vineyards, alongside one-of-a-kind dining events and rare, high-end wines.
These included lunch for six at Château La Mission, lunch for six at Château Latour; a ten-person private dinner hosted by Jancis Robinson OBE MW and Nick Lander; lunch for six at Château Margaux, including a cellar visit and tasting; and lunch and a private tour at Le Pin, for six people; a Glenfiddich 1993 Single Cask bottling, with VIP visit and stay at Glenfiddich, for four people; a Jeroboam of 007 Bollinger with drinks reception at 007 Bar, for six people, and a lunch and a private tour of Bouchard Pere & Fils in Burgundy, for six people.
The evening was held in in collaboration with sponsors Château Haut-Brion and Champagne Bollinger, who provided a curated selection of wines throughout the evening, while Jancis Robinson generously donated the glassware.
