Quinta do Noval releases its first Fifty Year Old Tawny Port
Acclaimed Port and table wine producer Quinta do Noval has unveiled its first Fifty Year Old Tawny Port, which it says takes tawny port “to a new and different dimension”.
Christian Seely, managing director of Quinta do Noval, said that the wine was “a supreme expression of the Noval style of Tawny Ports, and a culmination of our constant pursuit of excellence.”
“After fifty years of ageing in oak barrels, during which time a very high proportion will have evaporated, this remarkable Port wine has acquired a complex intensity of flavours and an austere purity, that we believe take us to a new and different dimension in Tawny Port,” he added.
The wine, he added offered “an extraordinary and unique sensory experience to the sophisticated lover of exceptional things.”
The port house released a Quinta do Noval Vinhas do Passadouro in 2023 – a field blend of more than 20 grape varieties harvested from 90-year-old vines – the second wine in its Terroir Series, after the release of the 2019 Vinhas da Marka.
