Cubitt House opens Blood Orange Bar in Belgravia

Cubitt House has opened a subterranean candle-lit cocktail venue, named Blood Orange Bar, beneath its Belgravia pub The Orange.

The historic site, which is a concept created by Chef Ben Tish, Georgie and Sam Pearman, was first opened in 1800 as a brewery and is said to be named after William of Orange and has been known for its connections with his royal heirs ever since.

Its renovation, which has been under the stewardship of Cubitt House muliple operators the Pearmans, sees The Orange now spanning four floors with the lower floor housing the team’s latest iteration: Blood Orange Bar.

The new bar can be entered through a door located on St Barnabas Street, in London’s Belgravia where visitors can descend the stairs into the bar which has an oak topped counter that has been overhung by metal pendants and sports brick walls lined with spirits.

Cocktails on the list include: a Queen’s Paloma made with Mezcal Reina Espadín Tobasiche Ensamble, agave syrup, orange marmalade, pink grapefruit soda, fresh lime juice and rosemary; the Boto Dry Martini made with Ki No Bi Kyoto dry gin, Noilly Prat original dry vermouth, lime and nori seaweed; and the Sour Cherry Negroni made with Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin, Campari, Antica Formula Carpano Vermouth and tobacco bitters.

Tish has also created a short Mediterranean bar menu for the venue which features wild-farmed focaccia, seasonal oysters, charcuterie and cheeses along with offerings such as salt cod croquettes with romesco and a range of house pickles.

There will also be wood-fired pizzas available, each made with toppings such as grilled aubergine, ewe’s cheese, walnut and chilli honey, or spiced lamb ragu, pomodoro, yoghurt and sumac as well as some topped with black figs, mascarpone, gorgonzola and sage.

Blood Orange Bar is also now set to include a roster of vinyl nights and live music to boost its presence since opening. These nights are due to feature a raft of London’s leading DJ’s, record stores, label owners and producers to showcase the talent in the area.
