Man slammed for buying wine for wife in glass ‘that should be illegal’

A woman has taken to TikTok to give her husband ‘1 out of 10’ when getting her a white wine on holiday due to the interesting choice of glassware.

The TikTok user Therese Ryan, who calls herself ‘your favourite menopause mum’ and has three-quarters of a million followers, often posts pictures of herself enjoying a glass of wine.

But recently she took to the channel to complain about her husband’s wine purchasing skills.

Although some users questioned what was wrong with the glass, and even said they had similar glassware at home, many others highlighted what it showed about the quality of the liquid.

Garbage

One user said: “Thick rim, short stem = garbage wine.”

Another said, “those glasses should be against the law”, to which Ryan replied “100%”.

Another user said it “needs to be a delicate glass with a longer stem!”

Yet another person commented that “I’d rather drink a diet coke than the wine that’s in this glass.”

Bartender

Some commentators had sympathy with the husband, stating: “I’m guessing the bartender and not the husband is actually at fault”, and another user said that they worked in a bar for years, and were told to use the shorter stem glasses for white wine and only use the larger ones for red wine.

Others pointed out that despite the concern about quality, it may be less of an issue once they had downed a few: “I’d struggle drinking from that glass. Well the first few anyway!” one user said.

There were even a few users who stood up for the glassware, with one TikTok commentator stating: “I like those ones , actually hate a thin stem .”

Heat

Although another user, somewhat superbly called Pamela Anderson (it is not known if this is the actual Pamela Anderson) stating: “The stem is to prevent your heat to higher the temperature of the wine.”

Other commentators also said that the wine at least looked “nice and cold”.

Perhaps the situation can be best summed up by one user: ‘Cup, pint glass, dust bin. It holds liquids. It will do.”
