Diageo unveils its ‘eagerly anticipated’ Talisker 30 Year Old
Diageo has released Talisker 30 Year Old, a limited edition bottling that “captures three decades of maturation”.
The whisky, which features “a gentle peppery kick with wisps of sea smoke” has been “made by the sea on the Isle of Skye” and according to Diageo sits at “the pinnacle of Talisker’s range of whiskies”.
Speaking to the drinks business, senior ambassador for Diageo’s single malt Scotch whiskies and Talisker expert Ewan Gunn said: “Talisker 30 Year Old is always eagerly anticipated and consistently adored by whisky fans and collectors. Talisker always embeds such a palpable sense of place in the hearts and minds of those who taste it, and this 30-Year-Old release delivers that with aplomb – with each nose and every taste you are pulled closer and closer to the majestic mountain views of Skye, the distillery and the sea.”
Matt Macpherson, owner of the Malt Rooms which was voted Best Whisky Bar in Scotland 2021, explained: “I love all types of whisky but for me, the Talisker 30 Year Old is the definition of balance. It’s like drinking the best smoked butter of your life with hints of brine that transport you to the shores of the West Coast.”
According to the drinks giant, the whisky “gives off notes of freshly picked red apples and stone fruit fading into an aromatic wood spice and vanilla pods with a fragrance of white pepper, and dark chocolate”. Added to this, “upon first sip, the warming smoke hits the palate alongside a peppery heat and a gentle salinity that reveals layers of orchard fruits, bonfire embers and pecan fudge. The finish is warm and lingering with whiffs of toffee and wisps of sea smoke”.
Gunn told db: “This new release is limited to just 2,610 bottles globally, so will undoubtedly be sought after by Talisker collectors far and wide.”
The new release will be available at selected retailers and Malts.com and, according to Diageo: “Customers who wish to purchase the Talisker 30-Year-Old can reach out to the Private Client team at Justerini & Brooks at rarewhisky@justerinis.com, or purchase it from Reservebar.com and Malts.com”.
Talisker 30 Year Old will retail at £1,300 per bottle and follows the launch of Talisker Glacial Edge 45 Year Old which was released by Diageo last November.
