You can now drink a Virgin Redhead cocktail in the air
Luxury cocktail company Tom Savano has collaborated with Virgin Atlantic on an RTD version of the Virgin Redhead cocktail for inflight.
The Virgin Redhead, a mix of gin, lemon juice, strawberry and blackberry liqueurs and topped with Prosecco, has long been the airline’s signature drink, but has previously only been available on the ground in Virgin Atlantic’s Clubhouses. Now, it has been reimagined as an RTD by the team at Tom Savano.
Speaking to the drinks business, Tom Savano founder James Kerslake said that both RTDs and Tom Savano are “changing the way cabin service works” and explained that this is being done “with strong taste profiles which maintain strength at altitude, allowing airlines to now offer a far higher standard of drinks onboard”.
The Tom Savano brand, which already holds 11 Great Taste Award stars across its range, previously collaborated with Virgin Atlantic on Upper Class cocktail tastings, before being tasked with bringing to life the airline’s famous signature Clubhouse cocktail, the Virgin Redhead, as part of the airline’s 40th birthday celebrations.
Kerslake told db: “The launch of the Redhead marks a huge step towards a new era of in-flight drinks service that can equal what you get on the ground at a good bar.”
Describing his mission, Kerslake explained: “I was ecstatic to take on this project. Having handcrafted every Tom Savano recipe, and with my deep passion for the airline industry, re-imagining the Virgin Redhead was a dream. This cocktail embodies the golden age of aviation—it’s all about passion with a touch of cheekiness.”
Virgin Atlantic beverage lead Shiada Drysdale added: “We are delighted that the Virgin Redhead has now taken to the sky. The Redhead signature cocktail was first introduced in the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse almost 20 years ago and is now iconic and much loved by our upper class customers. With an aspiration to more closely connect our ground to air experiences, we have crafted an RTD canned version of our iconic Virgin Redhead.
The Virgin Redhead RTD cocktail will be available on all routes for upper class passengers as well as available to buy on the airline’s economy and premium flights via its ‘retail therapy’ service.
