Wine Society adds new buyer to the team
The Wine Society has appointed Victoria Mason to its buying team, who will take on responsibility for Italy, Champagne, and US wine ranges.
Mason, who is joining the Wine Society from Bordeaux Index where she was senior fine wine buyer, responsible for buying wines from Champagne, Spain, and the Southern Hemisphere, will be covering Sarah Knowles MW’s maternity leave.
Prior to joining Bordeaux Index in January 2023, Mason spent more than 13 years at Waitrose, the last six as a wine buyer for Waitrose, sourcing wines from Italy and South Africa. She is currently on the final stage of her MW studies.
The Wine Society’s director of wine Pierre Mansour said hew was delighted Mason has chosen to join the team during Sarah’s absence. “Her appointment, following the recent additions of Fiona and Harriet to replace Jo and Marcel when they retire later this year, brings even more talent and skill to our industry-leading buying team.”
Mason joins the team shortly after two new buyers were appointed, former Lay & Wheeler buyer Fiona Hayes and C&C Group’s former wine trading director, Harriet Kininmonth, in April – a rare occurrence for the mutual, and the new external appointments to The Wine Society’s buying team in more than ten years.
