King Charles swigs beer named after him
King Charles III has drunk a beer named after him during a royal trip to the Channel Islands with Queen Camilla.
The brew, made by Little Big Brew Co for Charles’ coronation, was presented to the king when arrived at St Peter Port in Guernsey.
Captured by Rebecca English from the Daily Mail, Charles takes a look at the glass of beer, gives it a good sniff, and then proceeds to take a good swig from the jar.
Queen Camilla, intrigued by what is going on, appears to come across to join the King and discover more about the beer.
English reported that Charles said “he shouldn’t drink too much at this time in the morning – and said the media would be gasping”.

Perhaps in anticipation and hope that Charles would sup the drink during his trip to the Channel Islands, Little Big Brew had put out a number of posts on social media about its special brew for the King, before it was presented to him yesterday.
The posts make reference to his visit as well as to the famous new portrait of the King painted by artist Jonathan Yeo.

The King has a long history of beer-related incidents. In 2016, he asked whether a man fainted because he had drunk his own Duchy Original beers during an event at Brewers’ Hall in London.
In 2022, a royal fan asked whether he would like to go for a beer with him, to which Charles quipped: “You’ll have to recommend somewhere”.
And it isn’t just beer. According to claims in royal biographer Tina Brown’s new book The Palace Papers, Camilla has been clamping down on one of her husband’s bad habits. It claims Queen Camilla stops Charles telling his man to get his gin and tonic. Apparently the future Queen is inclined to assemble the drink herself.
The King’s late father was also something of a beer fan. Last year, food journalist and chef Dame Mary Berry revealed the late Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip had his beer refilled when Queen Elizabeth II’s back was turned.
