Corinthia London launches ‘Velvet Alfresco with Campari’
Campari has teamed up with bartender Salvatore Calabrese and Corinthia London to create an Italian-themed terrace named Velvet Alfresco.
The exclusive hidden terrace, located above the central courtyard of The Garden restaurant, on the first floor of the hotel, launches from 19 June and has seen Velvet bar manager, Christian Maspes and the Campari team create an alfresco environment and a summer cocktail list.
Speaking about the experience, Daniele Quattromini, director of food and beverage at Corinthia London said: “It has been a pleasure to work with Campari, Salvatore and the Velvet team to conceive such a special environment for cocktails this summer. I know the attention to detail and effort that has been put into creating a space with a distinctive Italian influence will be hugely appreciated by all who visit.”
‘Velvet Alfresco with Campari’ will continue throughout the summer until September, with highlights from the cocktail list including the Velvet Garibaldi, made with Campari, fresh grapefruit juice and lychee and the Shaken Campari With No Hands, made with Campari, passion fruit and vanilla as well as the classic Campari Spritz, made with Campari, Prosecco and soda.
A short aperitivo menu, featuring olives, salami Milano and grissini, also accompanies the cocktail list along with a small selection of Champagne, wine and other alternatives being available.
The terrace, kitted out in its Italian summer-inspired design, offers a mix of seating and umbrellas by Campari which all span the alfresco space, including banquette benches and high tables, all around a central pergola.
Speaking about the terrace, Calabrese said: “Truly one of a kind, ‘Velvet Alfresco with Campari’ will be the most exciting bar to visit in London this summer. In fact, I am considering cancelling my holiday on the Amalfi Coast and just sitting there, soaking up the London sunshine and sipping a Campari cocktail instead.”
‘Velvet Alfresco with Campari will be open daily from 4pm-8pm with access via the hotel lifts to the first floor. Walk-in guests will be welcome, as well as bookings for visitors who would prefer to call ahead to make a reservation.
