Bacardi gives boost to Latin American business

Bacardi has launched its second grant initiative to support and empower Latinx entrepreneurs in the US drinks and hospitality industry.

The Visión Verde grant, which is a US$100,000 initiative, sees the drinks giant team up with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) and is open to anyone looking to expand their businesses focused on growing through a sustainable vision.

Speaking to the drinks business about Bacardi’s commitment to inclusivity, Bacardi North America vice president of community relations Eddie Cutillas said: “Creating a sense of belonging, within our industry and our communities, is embedded in our Bacardi culture. We are proud to partner with organisations who share our commitment to building a more sustainable and equitable future by providing opportunities and resources for growth.”

HHF president and CEO Antonio Tijerino explained: “Entrepreneurship is in our blood and despite challenges, we continue to make a significant impact through vision, creativity and ganas.”

Tijerino added: “Latino entrepreneurship is good for our community, our country, and we want to make sure it’s also good for our globe. Through the pioneering Visión Verde programme with Bacardi, we want to continue supporting Latino businesses not only grow but become more sustainable as part of their business model.”

Building on the success of last year, the Visión Verde grant will be awarded to 10 deserving recipients across the US, each receiving US$10,000 to fund initiatives that promote sustainability and environmental impact through education and mentorship.

All applicants of the grant will gain access to Coctelería Consciente, a Hispanic-owned sustainability consultancy specialising in the hospitality sector. As part of the initiative, Coctelería Consciente will provide education sessions on: Integrated waste management, carbon and water footprint, renewable energies, and energy efficiency, offering actionable recommendations to drive positive sustainability impact.

In its inaugural year, the Visión Verde grant distributed US$100,000 among 10 businesses in Greater Miami.
