House of Suntory has announced a new collaboration for Roku Gin with actress Elle Fanning and creative director Sofia Coppola.

Sofia Coppola directs Elle Fanning for Roku Gin campaign

The collaboration between Hollywood actress Elle Fanning and film director and screenwriter Sofia Coppola is the centerpiece of Roku Gin’s ‘Come Alive with the Seasons’ campaign.

The Suntory-owned gin brand uses six Japanese botanicals and eight traditional gin botanicals. The six Japanese botanicals in Roku include Sakura flower, Sakura leaf, Sencha tea, Gyokuro tea, Sansho pepper, and Yuzu peel.

Coppola, the famed director of feature films including Priscilla, Lost in Translation and Marie Antoinette, began a partnership with House of Suntory last year to mark the drinks giant’s centenary. The campaign vignette is the latest continuation of that partnership.

In the campaign film, footage of Fanning is spliced with shots of Japanese blossom. A dinner party scene is also depicted in the minute-long video, with Fanning and friends drinking Roku Gin cocktails and taking pictures of one another.

In January, House of Suntory’s Roku Gin debuted Roku Sakura Bloom in the UK, the limited-edition release is the first edition in Roku’s Festival Collection, available at Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s.

This month Suntory also announced the launch of the 2024 Tsukuriwake Series featuring an expression from the Hakushu distillery for the first time. The Tsukuriwake Series has previously focused on the casks matured in the lands of Yamazaki. This year, the Japanese distillery has chosen to add a whisky from the Hakushu distillery to the collection, making it a cross-distillery series for the first time. Read more here.
