Pillars Brewery introduces a NZ Pilsner to delight lager fans

Walthamstow-based lager producer Pillars Brewery has released a New Zealand Pilsner to boost its line-up of beers.

The 4.2% ABV lager, is being positioned as “light, easy drinking and filled with
tropical fruit flavours” and has been brewed with “New Zealand hops and malted oats” before also being dry-hopped. The New Zealand Pilsner will be available in 330 ml bottles retailing at £3.50 each.

Speaking about the launch, Pillars Brewery co-founder and brewing director Eamonn Razaq said: “Our small batch exists to showcase the vast breadth of lager varieties in existence” and explained: “There are so many possibilities within the category of ‘lager’, we’re passionate about exploring and experimenting with lager styles from around the globe. This is our third New Zealand Pilsner release, which harnesses New Zealand hops to create the perfect summer lager”.

Pillars Brewery, which was established in 2016 as London’s first craft lager brewery has recently undertaken multiple expansions, runs a taproom onsite and hosts a bar at Crate based on London’s St James Street.

Pillars Brewery recently increased its production capacity by 80% in the last year and installed new horizontal tanks to keep up with demand but has also revealed plans to expand further and also build a new brewing site.

Speaking exclusively to the drinks business, Dea Latis co-founder, report editor and beer sommelier Annabel Smith recently noted that lager is often the most popular choice of beer for British consumers.

Smith told db: “Lager is the default choice of beer for both men and women, undoubtedly because of its accessibility, availability and familiarity.
