Ekstedt at the Yard
Louis Thomas attended a dinner at Ekstedt at the Yard, pairing five of the 50 Great Greek Wines alongside Nordic-inspired, wood-fired cooking.
From Gavalas Winery’s 2022 Santorini, paired with Ekstedt’s signature Flambadou Oyster, to a Pinot Noir-esuqe Chidiriotiko from Methymnaeos alongside hay-smoked veal tartar with a wild garlic ice cream, and a meadowsweet mousee with a treacley 2012 Monemvasia-Malvasia, the pairings showcased how Greek wine should not be confined to just being served alongside Greek food.
Pasqua
In the lead-up to its centenary next year, Veronese winery, Pasqua, held a private view of the new group show, “Metamorphosis: Innovation in Eco-photography & Film” at Saatchi Gallery. The exhibition highlights different approaches towards a shared goal of developing more sustainable practices – and heralds Pasqua’s most significant partnership with a major arts institution outside of its home market, Italy.
Since 2018, Pasqua, whose motto is “house of the unconventional”, has invested over €5m on artist collaborations, arts programming and patronage – most of which, until now, was anchored in Italy. In attendance was Ricardo Pasqua, CEO of Pasqua Wines (pictured), as well as all four of Metamorphosis’ UK-based artists: Almudena Romero, a British-Spanish visual artist who explores ways of seeing through photography, Edd Carr, who utilises the moving image to depict the human response to the ecological crisis, Hannah Fletcher, a Londoner who researches and incorporates waste in her photographic explorations, and Scott Hunter, a multidisciplinary artist who practises experimental photography and ecological research.
Paul Foster, Director of Saatchi Gallery, described the show, which “runs through June and July”, as “amazing”, adding he is “delighted to work with a company whose values of innovation and curiosity dovetail with our own to make contemporary art as accessible as possible to as many people as possible.”
Kylie Minogue
Kylie Minogue celebrated her 56th birthday and the fourth anniversary of her wine brand at famed London members club Annabel’s.
Guests enjoyed Kylie’s latest wines including her Prosecco DOC and Provence Rosé, both launched at the intimate drinks party.
