Have wine drinkers been missing out on fortified wines?

Long overlooked, fortified wines are going through an exciting revival phase. Be part of the change and enter the Global Fortified Masters before 6 June to show the world how fantastic your wines are.

Have wine drinkers been missing out on fortified wines?

Between Sherry or Port-based cocktails, Marsala or Madeira gastronomic food pairings, the fortified wine scene seems committed to seducing a new generation of wine drinkers and shaking things up.

It is a great opportunity for fortified wines to showcase their incredible diversity of styles and get past the perceived image of a dusty bottle drank only on special occasions.

“These wines are fantastic and rather than being old-fashioned they are more post-modern, and well suited to contemporary consumer tastes”, rejoiced chairing judge Patricia Stefanowicz after last year’s Global Fortified Masters competition.

She added: “these are often wines to sip and savour, as apéritifs, but, as we discovered, many have the depth, structure and balance to match well with different foods. And, the styles reach far beyond the conventional wines of Jerez and Porto”.

The Global Fortified Masters can help you shine a light on your wine and put it in front of thousands of wine professionals and enthusiasts.

In June, our panel of expert judges, composed of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and senior buyers will gather to assess the best fortified on the market. Entries are tasted blind, allowing fortified wines from across the globe to be judged purely on style and price.

Entries are open for another week, to any fortified wine, from Sherry to Vins Doux Naturels. Results will be published in the August issue of the drinks business magazine and online.

Ready to make your fortified wine even stronger with a medal? Enter the competition here before 6 June 2024.

Entries cost: £159 ex VAT
