Sushisamba opens new cocktail bar in London
The company behind Sushisamba has opened a new cocktail bar in London within the Heron Tower in Bishopsgate called Samba Room.
The bar will feature a drinks menu designed in collaboration with the Speak in Code cocktail team, featuring an array of ten drinks “taking guests on a journey through the rich and diverse cultures of Japan, Brazil, and Peru”, it said.
Inspired by the ingredients from these regions, it includes the Japanese-inspired Toki Serenade, with Suntory Toki whisky, homemade Umeshu plum wine, and kukicha twig liqueur infused with shochu and cacao blanc.
The Rhythm of Rio cocktail is made from Cachaça, rum, and elderflower liqueur combined with layers of Brazilian lemonade, sherry, and a zesty pink grapefruit juice.
Meanwhile the Amazonia is a tribute to the Peruvian Amazon, made from pisco, nashi pear cordial, and sustainably sourced Vetiver Gris. A Lord of Miracles cocktail provides a “lavender-hued concoction” with creamy coconut milk and purple yam, laced with the spice of Thai basil-infused pisco.
The 2,500 square foot facility, designed by Fabled Studio, open today (17 April) on the 39th floor of the Heron Tower, with guests walking through a mirrored walkway to the sky bar, with inlays of carved wood.
Adjacent to the bar is a lounge revealing the East London skyline with retro furniture that embodies the mid-century Brazilian aesthetic. This space can transform into an intimate private dining room for 26 guests, and also features ‘a touch of theatrical flair” with a custom-designed sculptural table.
In addition to the drinks, there is a bar bites menu with a selection of small plates, including A5 Kobe Sliders with truffle mayo, heritage carrot slaw, Crispy Crab Taquitos with avocado, rocoto, chili, spicy mayo, radish, and Lobster Seviche with yuzu leche de tigre and julienne vegetables in addition to colorful Samba Rolls.
