The Whisky Exchange and Chivas Brothers release single cask whisky series
The Whisky Exchange has partnered with Pernod Ricard’s whisky arm Chivas Brothers to release a collection of eight Speyside single cask whiskies aged between 20 and 33 years.
Lost In Time is the new collection of eight single malts handpicked from the warehouses of Speyside distilleries.
The single cask whiskies chosen by Chivas Brothers and The Whisky Exchange as part of the project have all been aged between 20 and 33 years.
Chris Bolton, own label and brand product manager at The Whisky Exchange, said of sourcing the liquid: “Searching for exceptional single malts is not just about finding the right barrels, it’s about selecting a cask at the right moment in maturation, where the spirit character and maturity harmonise, and the distillery’s true style shines through.”
Here’s a list of the whiskies included in the Lost In Time collection:
Allt A’Bhainne 1991
Age: 32 Year Old Cask 13091
ABV: 59.9%
Price: £768
Few expressions of Allt-a-Bhainne are captured as single malts, owing to the fact that it is a cornerstone of many great blended whiskies.
Braes of Glenlivet 1992
Age: 31 Year Old Cask 111566
ABV: 50.7%
Price: £768
This 31-year-old single malt was produced at the Braes of Glenlivet distillery just two years before its name change to Braeval in 1994. The liquid was drawn from a single first-fill American oak barrel.
Braeval 1995
Age: 28 Year Old Cask 79775
ABV: 62.6%
Price: £538
This expression was distilled on the first full year after the distillery changed its name from Braes of Glenlivet to Braeval. It was matured for 28 years in a first-fill American oak barrel before being selected by The Whisky Exchange and Chivas Brothers to become part of the Lost in Time series.
Glen Keith 1992
Age: 31 Year Old Cask 29851
ABV: 47.5%
Price: £768
This Glen Keith was aged in a first-fill American oak barrel and bottled for the Lost In Time series.
Glentauchers 1990
Age: 33 Year Old Cask 5218
ABV: 51.9%
Price: £973
Distilled in 1990, this Glentauchers remained untouched for 33 years in a refill American oak barrel.
Miltonduff 2003
Age: 20 Year Old Cask 63397
ABV: 49%
Price: £282
This whisky was distilled in 2003 and left to mature in a single first-fill American oak cask. As the years passed it distinguished itself as a particularly fine example of Miltonduff single malt, which led Chivas Brothers and The Whisky Exchange to select it for the Lost in Time series.
Glenlivet 1990
Age: 32 Year Old Cask 27277
ABV: 62.4%
Price: £1,742
This Glenlivet was described by The Whisky Exchange as “the jewel in the crown of the Lost in Times series”, bottled after 32 years of maturation in a refill hogshead.
Longmorn 1993
Age: 30 Year Old Cask 56087
ABV: 54.4%
Price: £1,229
This single malt was produced in 1993, a century after Longmorn’s founding, and matured for thirty years in a second-fill hogshead. The refill cask has imparted only light oak influence.
