Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition launches into GTR

Irish Distillers has released Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition, the second permanent expression in its Redbreast Iberian Series, exclusively for travel retail.

The single pot still Irish whiskey, produced at Midleton Distillery in Co. Cork, Ireland, has been created by marrying together whiskey aged in four distinct cask types – American ex-bourbon, Spanish Oloroso sherry butts, Portuguese tawny port hogsheads and European virgin oak casks.

Speaking to the drinks business, Redbreast master blender Dave McCabe said: “Redbreast has a long-standing connection with some of the Iberian Peninsula’s most celebrated cooperages and winemakers, sourcing casks in which to mature our exceptional liquid.”

According to Irish Distillers, Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition “embodies the symphony of flavours from each barrel, instantly transporting the consumer across the Bodegas of Spain and Portugal, to the bright warmth of the Iberian Peninsula with each sip”.

McCabe told db: “The name of this new launch was inspired by the four cask types used to create the liquid.  It was trips to this region that inspired the Iberian Series as a whole, and Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition is no exception.”

The expression which will be available at Dublin International Airport and Cork Airport, follows the 2023 limited-edition release of Redbreast Tawny Port Edition and marks the fourth expression in the Redbreast Iberian Series.

McCabe added: “There are many products that I have a personal memory with, but as the flavour of this liquid is reminiscent of our travels there, this launch is particularly special to me.”

Redbreast Cuatro Barriles Edition will be available in Dublin and Cork Duty Free, Ireland, retailing at €108 per bottle.
