Metagroup introduces Amazzoni Gin across Asia

Metagroup subsidiary Eclipse Beverages has formed a new partnership with Amazzoni Gin to expand the brand into China, Japan, and Australia.

Metagroup introduces Amazzoni across Asia

Amazzoni, Brazil’s first craft distillery, was established in Rio de Janeiro in 2017 as a collaboration between Italian Arturo Isola and Brazilian Alexandre Mazza.

It is situated on a former coffee farm located in the Paraiba Valley. Production involves sourcing ingredients from indigenous communities in the Amazon and contributing a portion of the sales proceeds towards rainforest conservation.

Amazzoni is now the biggest South American craft gin distillery and the most widely sold craft gin in the country, producing 15,000 bottles daily after merging with Pernod Ricard in 2021.

Metagroup has now partnered with Amazzoni to bring the brand to key Asian markets. Roger Chan, Metagroup chairman, said: “The brand is at the forefront of sustainability among gin brands and their investment back into their local community is an inspiration to us all. We look forward to bringing this brand to gin lovers across Asia.”

Metagroup is prioritising China and Japan, as well as Australia outside of Asia, to begin with.

After being added to the Eclipse portfolio, its regional hub model has enabled Amazzoni, alongside brands including Stauning Whisky, Amaro Montenegro, and Tokki Soju, to tap into the rapidly growing spirits market in the region.

The founder of Amazzoni, Arturo Isola, commented on this new partnership: “Their track record of bringing new brands to one of the most dynamic spirits regions in the world really excites us and we’re keen to introduce our range across the region.”
