Katherine Jenkins to launch Gin & Tonic at Six Nations this weekend
Musical artist Katherine Jenkins has expanded her Cygnet gin range with the release of a canned Gin & Tonic, due to be unveiled at the Wales Vs Italy rugby game tomorrow, db can exclusively reveal.
In June 2023 Welsh singer Katherine Jenkins launched her premium Cygnet gin range, telling the drinks business in an exclusive interview that she had “really enjoyed the discipline of having to learn something so technical.”
Saturday 16 March will mark a new chapter for the fledgling brand, as Jenkins plans to unveil her new ready-to-drink cans of gin and tonic at The Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, when the venue hosts the Six Nations ‘Super Saturday’.
Rugby fans watching Wales take on Italy this weekend will be able to purchase the pre-mixed Cygnet Gin & Tonic cans from the stadium’s bars, and the product will be highly visible across all screens within the stadium. The cans will also be stocked at surrounding bars within Cardiff.
According to Jenkins, the 7% ABV product is the “first ultra-premium gin and tonic on the go” and has “bright and zesty aromas of juniper and citrus and a smooth quinine warmth, with a refreshingly dry finish”.
“I am so excited to be launching our Cygnet Welsh Dry Gin & Tonic this weekend to the home-crowd at Principality Stadium in partnership with the Welsh Rugby Union,” said Jenkins.
“My career started here in 2003 when I proudly sang ‘Mae hen wlad fy nhadau” on the pitch, and it means the world to me to have the same level of support from the WRU today as it did 20 years ago. The home of Welsh rugby will always have a special place in my heart, which is why it feels like such a full circle moment
to be announcing that my Cygnet Gin collection is now permanently available at the stadium, across the bars this Super Saturday and beyond.”
Since launching her gin brand, which includes Cygnet 22 (made up of 22 botanicals) and a classic Welsh Dry Gin, Jenkins has won a number of high-profile on-trade listings, including Isabel Mayfair, Chiltern Firehouse, The Rosewood Hotel, and all restaurants belonging to The Ivy collection.
Her gins are also sold at Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, and John Lewis.
