England fans rage at cans of Stella at Wembley

England fans have shown their discontent at being served cans of Stella Artois for £7 in conditions that one person described as “like a school fete”.

The post went viral following the series of friendly matches that England’s football team have recently undertaken at Wembley Stadium, making football fans question whether they are getting good value for money – and why the national stadium and home of football didn’t have keg dispense for beer.

In response to the post, one user said: “I see this every time I go to Wembley and the fact that it’s allowed to happen is disgraceful.

“It’s like a bar at a school summer fete, and they’re more efficient.”

Another user on X said: “Went to Portsmouth last week to see Noel Gallagher and was £6 a can and that was in the hospitality bar in bar draught beers by the pint was cheaper.”

Another said that they had paid £8.50 for a can of lager in Newcastle Arena, highlighting that the issue was similar across the country. Although one user did say that two pints of draught Carlsberg was available at Anfield for £7, effectively doubling the value of Wembley.

According to one person at the game, there was a “deal” on offer, where you can buy four cans for £24, “so if you don’t want to be extremely ripped off you can be slightly ripped off instead.”

It was also highlighted how some modern stadiums are different though, for example those which are fitted with fill from bottom machines, that can rapidly dispense pints.

A user wrote: “It’s staggering all stadiums have fill from bottom glasses or machines that fill 30 pints at a time just get to Headingley Leeds for the cricket the speed is staggering.

“Yet our national stadium opens cans. I was there for the Carabo Cup final and it’s laughable.”
