The Conseil Interprofessionnel Du Vin De Bordeaux  (CIVB) has revealed its plans for an immersive Bordeaux trade tasting experience in London as it kicks off its new global marketing campaign.

The Bordeaux Experience is an entertaining and immersive tasting that will showcase a huge array of wines from Bordeaux, alongside some of the best street food in London and accompanied by music throughout the day.

Visitors can take the opportunity to taste more than 100 wines at the The Bordeaux Wine Market, from refreshing whites, modern and classic reds to fruity rosés, Clairet, Crémant and sweet wines. It will take place at the Market Halls near Bond Street in London on Wednesday 1 May 2024, with doors opening to the trade at 10.30am. In the evening, the event will open to consumers, promising a “relaxed and convivial consumer experience”.

The day will kick off with a presentation by the CIVB to share the latest news and developments from the region including a vintage update, and the lowdown on the new global marketing campaign, ‘Join the Bordeaux Crew’. Then throughout the day, Bordeaux Crew representatives, including winemakers from different appellations, will host ‘Bordeaux Hot Topics’, a series of short, dynamic and informal talks focusing on key trends, some of which will include wine tastings.

Visitors will also be encouraged to explore Bordeaux’ different grape varieties and blends accompanied by the beats of a DJ at the ‘Bordeaux in a Shot’ pop-up, or challenge their palates at the exclusive Bordeaux Casino, a taste skill challenge run by the Ecole du Vin.

There will be ample opportunity to chat to Bordeaux producers, winemakers, agents and retailers as well as the CIVB team, who will be on hand to answer questions and help visitors discover new and exciting wines for their portfolio.

Visitors will also be able to explore the many facets of Bordeaux, from gastronomic trends to sustainable agriculture. Wines from Médoc, Graves, Sauternes, Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Fronsac, Côtes de Bordeaux, Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur will all be present, running the gamut from organic and biodynamic to modern, classic and revisited cuvées.

Visitors can also try their hand at finding the perfect wines to accompany the Thai and Lebanese street food dishes that will be be available to enjoy alongside the wines throughout the day.

Caroline Vigneron, marketing manager at the CIVB said the team couldn’t wait to celebrate “the dynamism, innovation and creativity of all those involved in Bordeaux wines with the UK Trade”.

The Bordeaux Experience is a great opportunity for both trade and consumers to reconsider and reinvigorate their relationship with Bordeaux,” she said. “They’ll meet our winemakers and experts, discover the story behind each bottle and taste Bordeaux wines in an exciting and unexpected location. There is a Bordeaux for everyone and for every occasion and we’re excited to be showing you yours.”
