As part of their collaboration, Bijou and the Women in Wine Expo have announced the sponsorship of five Portuguese women working in wine to attend the event’s finale on Friday 10 May 2024.

The sponsorship will provide the recipients with the opportunity to participate in wine tastings, conferences, and networking sessions.

The International Women in Wine Expo was founded by the journalist and wine professional Senay Ozdemir. Each year, the event takes place in a different wine-producing country, bringing together women from diverse backgrounds and occupations within the wine industry for three days of collaboration, education, and networking.

Women in Wine Expo first launched in 2019 in Belgium and the Netherlands, followed by the next edition in 2022 in Georgia. In 2023 the exhibition was held in the UK, and in 2024 will be hosted in Portugal.

“We are delighted to collaborate with the International Women in Wine Expo for this momentous event,” said Hélène Temmerman, international sales and marketing manager at Bijou, a producer based in the heart of Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence. “Together, we will break barriers, raise glasses, and pave the way for a more diverse and delicious future,” she said.

Paying homage to its area of production, Le Bijou de Sophie Valrose, on of the brand’s rosé wines, pays respect to the rich historic winemaking culture of the region, and is named after the women who fought tirelessly to improve their rights and working conditions in 19th-century Languedoc.

Bijou has recently toasted success in Southeast Asia, bringing its wines to Thailand, and in Australia and New Zealand.
