Try a £2.2k whisky to celebrate the C-Type Jaguar turning 70

The Glenturret has unveiled a second partnership with Jaguar Classic with the launch of a whisky to celebrate the C-type’s 70th anniversary.

The 42.3% ABV whisky, Glenturret x Jaguar C-type, which will be exclusively sold through the distillery’s webshop, will be limited to 220 70cl bottles, priced at £2,200 each.

Speaking to the drinks business, The Glenturret managing director John Laurie said: “The world of classic cars is one of passion, nostalgia and experience, this Jaguar edition in particular will resonate with those that loved the romanticism of the great endurance races of the world. When you consider that Single malt scotch from The Glenturret is steeped in history, hand crafted, and looked after by passionate custodians; it’s easy to see why this collaboration works so well.”

In 1953, the Jaguar C-type made its mark on motorsport history and the vehicle, credited with introducing disc brakes to the world, achieved a remarkable first, second, fourth and ninth place finish, setting a new average speed record of 105.84mph – the first instance of breaking the 100mph average barrier.

As part of the Jaguar Classic exclusive C-type continuation programme, and in celebration of the C-type’s 70th anniversary, Jaguar Classic also revealed two exclusive, one-off C-type continuations, each named ’70-Edition’.

Laurie told db: “We hope the drinkers of this limited edition do so whilst appreciating the dedications to craftsmanship in both the whisky and the car manufacturing at Jaguar Classic.”

The whisky, which was drawn from a selection of five casks and showcases the influence of Oloroso sherry-seasoned European oak hogsheads, has a minimum age of 32 years and was created by the Glenturret whisky maker Bob Dalgarno.
