Best cities for rugby fans to get cheap pint revealed
An analysis of the UK’s 20 largest cities has revealed where is the best location offering a Six Nations rugby experience for food, drink and fans.
As the latest iteration of the championships continues, data commissioned by Live Rugby Tickets suggests that Cardiff has the best experience, according to the methodology from the company.
The Welsh city received an overall score of 6.9 out of 10, it has the third highest number of rugby teams out of the 20 cities analysed with an average pint costing £4 and fast food at £10.38.
Coming in second was Edinburgh with five more rugby stadiums and six more sports bars than Cardiff but its average pint and fast food meal cost is higher. Eating and drinking prices are £5 for a pint and £11 for a meal.
London comes in third which despite its highest number of rugby teams – 41 – the average cost of a pint is the highest across the UK at £6.35 and the cost of fast food is £13.50, which is the same as Bournemouth in 18th place.
Another big rugby city is Leicester, which has 32 teams and 14 sports bars, and an average of £4.50 a pint and £11 on average for fast food. Glasgow rounds off the top five with pints and food coming to a similar amount to Leicester, but it has only seven rugby teams.
The cheapest pint in the list was £3 in Bradford.
