The week in pictures: 6-12 January

This week has seen Taylor Swift drinking Champagne, the Global Wine Masters Competition beginning its 2024 tastings, a round-the-world trip, a new Soho venue, a whisky play, and Roman Kemp consuming a CBD-infused beverage.

Taylor Swift

Champagne Problems? Not on this night…Taylor Swift poured herself a glass of Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial at the Golden Globes this week. A radiant champagne and glamorous expression of the House’s style, it was the obvious choice for Tay Tay.

Global Wine Masters

The Global Wine Masters returned for 2024 with the blind tasting of our Cabernet Franc competition.

There was much excitement on the wines that had been entered, and keep your eyes posted for the results on the drinks business online and in print.

Edmund de Rothschild Heritage Wines

Charles Caudrelier, the skipper of the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, has set sail solo for an unprecedented 40,000 km circumnavigation of the globe: the Arkea Ultim Challenge.

This tour of the world, which takes the route of the three major iconic capes: Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn, is a perfect link with the world of Edmond de Rothschild Heritage’s wine estates, spread all over the world.

Underbelly

The producers of the multi-award winning Cabaret have opened Underbelly Boulevard: a brand-new 200-capacity performance space that features a new restaurant, Cafe Kitty, a late-night cocktail bar, theatre bar and private hire spaces.

Located in an iconic and historic location above the bustle of Berwick Street in London’s Soho, Underbelly Boulevard launched with a 12-week run of Bernie Dieter’s Club Kabarett. The theatre will also host late evening residencies and daytime programming.

ASC Fine Wines

ASC Fine Wines, the importer and distributor of Lustau Sherry in China, recently celebrated a successful collaboration with imaging solutions leader Canon. The Lustau Sherry and Photography Workshop, held on 16 December in Shanghai in partnership with Club Canon, received an enthusiastic response from Club Canon members.

A Play on Whiskey

Award-winning writer & actress Joyce Greenaway is bringing her double Edinburgh Fringe solo show home to The Lyric Belfast. The show features dry Northern Irish humour, raw emotion, a dysfunctional family – and whiskey.

The show has toured to the Dublin Liberties Distillery, The Hop Yard Brewery, Brighton Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe 2021-2023 and elsewhere.

It’s a simple setup: a chair, a glass and a bottle of whiskey.
