Austrian Wine appoints new export manager

Promotional body Austrian Wine has announced the appointment of Patrick Eppacher as the new head of its Markets International team.

Eppacher, who previously headed up marketing for importer Eggers & Franke’s Austrian subsidiary, will be shadowing his soon-to-be predecessor at Austrian Wine, Michael Tischler-Zimmermann, from 1 February. On 1 March he will formally take over the role.

In his position as export manager, Eppacher will be in charge of strategically planning and implementing initiatives to bolster overseas sales of Austrian wine in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific. Last year, Austrian wine exports reached a record high value of €231 million, with neighbouring Germany and Switzerland being the main markets, followed by the USA in third place.

Austrian Wine CEO Chris Yorke said: “I am delighted that Patrick Eppacher is going to be leading our Markets International team, bringing with him excellent skills and tremendous motivation. During his career, he has gained significant experience in the wine industry, as well as in international sales and marketing. He’s the perfect fit for our team.”

“Over the past seven and a half years, Michael Tischler-Zimmermann has done an outstanding job for Austrian Wine in our export markets. Working together over the last four years, we’ve managed to drive many new initiatives on the international stage. It goes without saying that we’ll continue working closely with Michael in the future,” Yorke added.

Tischler-Zimmerman’s new role will be as CEO of Österreichische Traditionsweingüter (ÖTW), an association of 77 winegrowers across Kamptal, Kremstal, Traisental, Wagram, Vienna and Carnuntum.
