Elon Musk backs Conor McGregor running for Irish presidency
Elon Musk has shown support for UFC champion and drinks brand owner Conor McGregor running for Irish president.
This week, featherweight champion McGregor who is also the owner of Forged Stout and Proper No. 12 Irish Whiskey, hinted he should run for the presidency in Ireland – a move cheered on by Tesla founder and X owner Elon Musk.
Speaking candidly on social media about running in the 2025 election, McGregor said: “It would not be me in power as president, people of Ireland. It would be me and you.”
McGregor then went on to mock the competing candidates with ageist statements before suggesting that, comparatively, he was: “Young, active, passionate [and would be] fresh skin in the game.”
He added: “I listen. I support. I adapt. I have no affiliation, bias, favouritism toward any party. They would genuinely be held to account regarding the current sway of public feeling. I’d even put it all to vote. There’d be votes every week to make sure. I can fund.”
Musk, who also has his own beer brand in Tesla Cyberbeer, showed his support for McGregor and replied: “I think you could take them all single-handed. Not even fair.”
McGregor additionally referenced his potential run for Irish presidency between promotional tweets for his Forged stout brand in a posted image of him in a suit along with the caption: “Ireland, your president.”
Backing his claims that he gets results, McGregor reminded his followers how successful his stout brand was and how its reach had expanded. Speaking on X, McGregor revealed: “In regard to the premises we are in currently, we are in 100 on premise accounts in Ireland and 400 off premise. In the UK we are in 700 on premise accounts and 400 off premise. In Canada we are in 300 off premise accounts with on premise starting next week. All of which growing rapidly. In the USA, we are only scratching the surface! The USA market is demanding Forged Irish Stout and we will deliver. 150 on premise accounts and 350 off premise accounts in the USA currently.”
McGregor’s Forged Irish Stout recently landed a major on-trade deal with LWC Drinks which has assisted in its rise in exposure. McGregor’s Proper No. Twelve Irish whiskey brand has also seen success in US. Never one to stand still, McGregor has also hinted at plans for an RTD cocktail line to join his expanding drinks empire in due course.
Musk’s Cyberbeer has also been gaining attention since October when Tesla revealed the limited-edition brew in honour of the upcoming launch of its latest electric vehicle, the Cybertruck.
