ASC Fine Wines and Suntory host Tomi no Oka wine dinner
ASC Fine Wines, the exclusive importer and distributor of Tomi no Oka wines in China, collaborated with Suntory Japanese Cuisine & Whisky, the flagship restaurant of the global drinks giant, for an exclusive wine dinner.
The event, held at Suntory Japanese Cuisine & Whisky, marked a significant part of the restaurant’s first-anniversary celebration. Kohei Oyama, general manager for Viticulture of Tomi no Oka Winery, and Eri Shiinoki, general manager of winery wine business division of Suntory’s Wine Company were present, together with the leadership team of Suntory Holdings China.
Suntory’s historical connection to wine dates back to its founder, Shinjiro Torii, who laid the foundation in 1907 with Akadama Port Wine, now known as Akadama Sweet Wine.
The collaboration with Zenbei Kawakami in 1936 led to the establishment of a vineyard in Tomi no Oka, Yamanashi Prefecture, becoming the genesis of the renowned ‘Tomi’.
In 2022, Tomi no Oka extended its presence with the introduction of Suntory From Farm, unveiling four distinct series — Symbol, Winery, Terroir, and Hinshu (Varietal).
Suntory now owns Tomi no Oka Winery in Japan, Weingut Robert Weil in Rheingau, Germany, and Chateau Lagrange in Bordeaux, France and operates Chateau Beychevelle. Suntory also owns China’s leading wine importer and distributor ASC Fine Wines, along with F Wines and Monte Bussan in Japan.
The dinner spotlighted Tomi no Oka’s premium wines, including the acclaimed Tomi 2017. It was hosted at Suntory Japanese Cuisine & Whisky, which launched in December 2022.
The wines served at the dinner included:
Suntory from Farm Koshu 2020
Tomi no Oka Koshu 2020
Tomi no Oka Red 2017
Tomi Red 2017
