What items belong in the essential bartender’s travel kit?
London and Barcelona-based bartenders Simone Caporale and Alex Kratena have launched a travel kit featuring what they claim are the must-have essentials for any globetrotting mixologist.
Simone Caporale, the founder of Barcelona bar SIPS, and Alex Kratena, co-founder of Muyu liqueurs and bar project Tayēr + Elementary, have teamed up to launch a travel kit for bartenders.
The pair previously worked together at Artesian at The Langham in London.
Caporale and Kratena have partnered with aperitivo brand Amaro Santoni to create the ‘SIPS x Tayēr + Elementary Bartender’s Travel Capsule Collection, operated by Amaro Santoni’.
The concept behind the kit is to provide bartenders with all the travel essentials they need to arrive in a destination guest-shift ready.
Caporale and Kratena have included a cosmetic pouch, eye mask, t-shirt, hoodie, sweatpants and suitcase among their essentials, and the kit has been designed with an airline-inspired aesthetic.
In 2019, Kratena opened Tāyer + Elementary with Monica Berg, a cocktail bar reimagined with two parts, an industrial-styled street-side bar with cocktails on tap and a forensic, culinary approached bar in the back focused on new flavour experiences. In 2021, Simone moved to Barcelona to create SIPS with Marc Alvarez, with an island bar centre stage with the bartenders creating the modern concept cocktails on show.
The pair came back together in Barcelona on 30 October to launch the new bartender’s travel kit, serving a bespoke cocktail menu inspired by Amaro Santoni.
