Nigel Farage rumoured to have ‘given up beer’
Nigel Farage has reportedly given up drinking in the lead up to his appearance on the television show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The former leader of UK Independence Party (UKIP) and The Brexit Party, known for leading Britain from the European Union, has been rumoured to be joining the ITV jungle-based reality series and, in preparation for the show, a source told The Sun: “He hasn’t touched a drop of booze for days”.
The sources explained to the paper: “Nigel is already preparing himself for what life could be like in camp. It is no secret that Nigel loves a pint, but he is sticking to orange juice and ginger beer for the foreseeable.”
Farage, who has been an avid beer drinker. often photographed with a pint in hand has also been a keen spirits drinker too and famously stated: “I was a gin-drinking eurosceptic in the eighties back when people said, ‘Nigel, you’re so old fashioned’. At home I will drink gin and tonic, straight.
Last year, Farage launched his own brand of patriotic gin which included three expressions in the colours of red, white and blue and encouraged people to sample his Farage Gin and try the “taste of Brexit”.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! returns to television screens on 19 November. According to reports, Farage signed a deal worth “up to £1m” to appear on the series.
Farage’s representatives have been contacted for further comment.
