Jessica Mason shortlisted in British Guild of Beer Writers Awards

The British Guild of Beer Writers (BGBW) has shortlisted the drinks business’ Jessica Mason in three categories for its upcoming awards.

The BGBW Awards, which celebrates beer, pub and cider journalism and communication in print, online writing and broadcast media, involved judges reviewing 513 pieces of work this year.

Work from Mason has been shortlisted in the categories: Best Beer Business Communicator for her work with the drinks business along with contributions towards Best Video Beer Communication and Best Communication about Pubs alongside writer, podcaster and producer Emma Inch.

Discussing this year’s awards, BGBW chair of judges Jonathan Garrett said: “It’s said every year, but the quality of this year’s entries was exceptional.”

Garrett explained: “What was really pleasing to see, on top of the extraordinary storytelling and beautiful writing, was the breadth of topics covered both by individual authors and across the board. It made the judging extremely difficult, but all the more joyous.”

Mason added: “I feel very humbled to be shortlisted for these awards. I am in great company with so many excellent writers who I admire hugely for their work. I have felt very pleased to have had the opportunity to build the beer writing side at the drinks business over the past year and look forward to the awards this month. Good luck to all of the others shortlisted.”

The winners and runners-up, alongside the Guild’s ‘Brewer of the Year’ sponsored by SIBA, will be announced during the annual dinner and awards, this year held at Big Penny Social in London on 29 November.
