Bacardi launches ‘perfectly packaged’ Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru
Bacardi has launched brand new sustainable gift wrapping for its premium expression of Bombay Sapphire gin.
The 47% ABV London Dry gin, named Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Murcian Lemon, is infused with Murcian Fino lemons as well as mandarins and Navel oranges and features a new sustainable bottle design and a cork closure as well as taking into account sourcing and carbon neutrality as part of its launch.
Speaking to the drinks business, Natasha Curtin, vice president at Bombay Sapphire said: “The Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru gift wrap has been designed with sustainability in mind, created to highlight the 100% sustainably sourced botanicals found in our gin, part of our ongoing sustainability mission that we are incredibly proud of. The paper wrap features illustrations of the sustainably sourced Murcian Fino lemons, mandarins and sweet Navel oranges that make up Premier Cru, our latest super premium expression, created to celebrate nature’s finest flavours. The paper wrap is carbon neutral, 100% recyclable, biodegradable and produced with renewable energy.”
Curtin told db: “We know that people are more mindful when it comes to excessive packaging, so the wrap has been designed to have the lowest environmental impact possible – all whilst maintaining the aesthetic of a beautiful, festive gift.”
Speaking about the gin, Bombay Sapphire master of botanicals, Ivano Tonutti explained: “Each lemon has been hand-picked at its ripest moment in small quantities during the late Fino harvest season, using skilful techniques passed down from generation to generation. Murcian citrus is particularly special due to the exact region where it is grown. Sitting in a basin between mountain and sea, it is the perfect micro-climate for growing citrus that slowly ripens in the winter months for the best tasting fruit and impactful flavour.”
Bombay Sapphire master distiller, Dr Anne Brock added: “Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru is sure to impress and delight gin lovers everywhere with its distinct, yet subtle citrus flavour profile that shines in a wide array of cocktails, lending itself beautifully to iconic drinks such as the French 75 or a classic martini cocktail with a lemon twist.”
To celebrate the launch of the new packaging for the festive season, the brand has partnered with the Mondrian Hotel, London, to create two exclusive cocktails, The Murcian Cobbler and The Spanish Cru 75.
