TikTok man aims to drink 2,000 pints in 200 days

A man on TikTok is detailing his journey to drink 2,000 pints in 200 days claiming “I’m too young for hangovers”.

Jon May decided to make the move after seeing another person aiming to drink 1,000 pints and thought “I can double that”.

He told Vice:“I started off with 2,000 pints a year, but then I went too quickly, so I shortened it to 200 days because it sounds good.”

“On the one hand, you’re essentially killing your liver, and on the other you’re doing something mildly impressive.”

May, who is keeping a spreadsheet of his progress, is live-streaming his challenge on TikTok and at the time of writing has more than 100,000 followers on the social media platform and millions of views.

Although claiming he is too young for hangovers, he is concerned about the financial impact of the challenge, which currently sees him drinking in pubs around his local area of Guildford, Surrey. Such is his popularity that locals are recognising him, with a “random guy” kissing his shoes recently when he attended a wedding. But he also said around 75% of the comments on TikTok are “hate”.

Now he is drinking at home though to save cash, although he predicts spending £8,000 on booze by the end of the challenge later this month. He said he was “propping up the UK economy” with his challenge.

In addition, he is conscious of the safety issue and said he will go to the doctor and have a scan once he completes the challenge.

He said to Vice: “This is probably the most British thing anyone can do, counting the number of pints they’re drinking in an Excel spreadsheet.”

May plans to finish his challenge in Birmingham, where he said fans will join him, including people flying over from Ireland for the occasion. Afterwards he plans to “give it two weeks” and then he will review pints.
