The auction which is being hosted by fine wine members’ auction site Crurated, comprises 130 lots of one-off experience with leading wine estates, and bottles of rare and unique wines. This includes a rare Imperial (6 Litre) of 1996 Petrus which comes with a VIP tour, tasting and vineyard visit at the estate, followed by a private lunch (with the opportunity to taste historic back vintages) at Liborne hosted by owner, Jean Moueix; a visit to Harlan Estate in Napa Valley for 8 people, including a rare Double Magnum (3 Litre) of 2016 Harlan Estate signed by Bill Harlan.

The auction also includes rare spirit bottles and experiences, including up to four bottles bottles of a uniquely blended old cognac from Maison Camus in homage to Gérard Basset himself (only ten of which were produced), along with a private dinner with the owner, Cyril Camus, in his private apartment in Paris.

The online auction opened for bidding on 1 October and closes at midnight on Sunday 15 October, with profits going to the Gerard Basset Foundation, the UK registered charity founded in memory of the master sommelier who died in 2019, that boosts diversity and inclusion in global wine education programmes.

The Golden Vines Charity is also holding a three-day event, which features a series of masterclasses, a Dress-to-Party Charity Gala and the Sotheby’s Golden Vines Live Auction, which includes lots from VistaJet, Gucci, Boucheron, courtside seats at the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, and several Michelin-3 Star experiences from Massimo Bottura, Alain Ducasse and Mauro Colagreco. A dinner featuring chefs Ducasse and Akrame Benallal is being held on Saturday 14th October, which will feature a guest performance from British singer-song-writer Cat Burns, as well as private Champagne experiences in different locations acoss the city.

In 2021, The Golden Vines Fine Wine, Rare Spirits and Experience Auction smashed its target to raise more than £1.3 million for the Gerard Basset Foundation.
