Majestic launches largest Christmas recruitment drive

UK specialist retailer Majestic is launching one of its largest recruitment drives in the run-up to Christmas, with 200 roles available – 50 of which are for permanent roles within the company.

In addition to the 150 temporary festive positions, the company is recruiting for permanent roles at its new Majestic stores in Crouch End, Chippenham, Monmouth and Christchurch, which are all due to open ahead of Christmas. This includes delivery drivers, sales assistants, assistant managers and trainee managers, who have training to progress onto store manager roles within 12 months.

The company said it’s recruitment drive came as Majestic “gears up to deliver its biggest-ever ‘golden quarter’ and lays foundations for future growth”, following its second-grossing Christmas in 2022.

Since moving back into private ownership in 2019, Majestic has invested in bricks and mortar retail, opening 11 new stores over the past three years and refurbishing many of its existing estate.

Majestic CEO John Colley said that Christmas was always an exciting and busy time for Majestic. “New team members will not only help us to deliver our biggest Christmas ever, but will play a key part in our ambitious growth plans for next year and beyond,” he said. “During what are challenging economic times, we are proud to be investing in our stores, creating jobs and recruiting skilled, passionate colleagues – including those whose careers in retail may have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, cost-of-living crisis or redundancies.”

In April, the retailer announced it was investing in its staff, boosting basic pay over the National Minimum Wage and introducing a new incremental pay structure for staff to reward those who held WSET qualification level and greater experience, which boosted the average salary by around 6.7%.
