Italian drinks giant Zonin1821 Group was one of the leading supporters of last month’s star-studded Tuscan Nights 2023 charity gala events to raise money for the Andrea Bocelli Foundation.

The first event, held on 29 July in the Teatro del Silenzio, a natural amphitheatre, in the Volterra hinterlands, brought music, dance, food wine, and about 25,000 people together for a good cause. Among the wines in the Zonin1821 portfolio served were the Cà Bolani Pinot Grigio 2022 Friuli DOC Aquileia, Masseria Altemura Zìnzula Rosé 2022 Salento IGT, and Zonin’s own-label Prosecco Rosé DOC 2022.

Among the guests in attendance at this occasion were singer Gloria Gaynor and movie star Gerard Butler.

The second event, on 31 July, was a charity dinner held at Villa Oliviero, near Forte dei Marmi, where 750 friends of the Bocelli family were served a dinner by famed Florentine chef Guido Guidi, matched with Zonin1821 wines.

For example, the burrata agnolotti were complemented by Principi di Butera’s Diamanti (Grillo DOC 2022) and the fillet of beef was served alongside Castello di Albola’s Chianti Classico DOCG 2021.

World-famous tenor Andrea Bocelli said: “It is because we believe in love and justice that we are called to build a better world than the one we have found; called to give back to the world what we have received, so that even the weakest or most disadvantaged people have the chance to live of a life full of opportunities and beauty, and so that the deserving can find energy and real opportunities to give the best of themselves.”

Group vice-president Michele Zonin, part of the seventh generation of the Zonin family to be involved in the drinks industry, said: “Wine is culture: it gathers together the knowledge, traditions and customs that entire generations have handed down. Wine is love: it welcomes and strengthens human bonds. With a great sense of responsibility, we are happy to be able to preserve this heritage of knowledge, and we are honoured to be able to support the Bocelli Foundation in the pursuit of its noble causes.”

The money raised from the events will contribute to helping children in Italy and Haiti by building schools, orphanages and creating welfare programmes within their local communities.
