Dunkin’ to launch ‘spiked’ alcoholic teas and coffees
Dunkin’ Donuts is planning to launch a range of alcoholic ‘spiked’ iced teas and coffees, according to reports.
The Massachusetts doughnut and coffee chain has, according to Vinepair, registered to launch an alcoholic collection of iced teas and coffees and already has an active website, revealing flavours inspired by fans’ favourite beverages.
The four flavours of iced coffee that will reportedly become available include: Original, Caramel, Mocha, and Vanilla. The Original is set to be the brand’s flagship traditional coffee flavour, whereas the Caramel version is due to offer a hint of sweetness and the Mocha will be “chocolatey and approachably decadent,” but Vanilla will be “creamy, smooth and delightfully sweet.”
The new alcoholic coffee drinks, named ‘Dunkin’ Spiked’ are due to have a 6% ABV and will be available in a combined ‘Dunkin’ Spiked Coffee Mix Pack’. However, the Original will be the only iced coffee variant that can be bought as both a four-pack of 12-ounce cans or a 19.2-ounce single-serve can.
Alongside the alcoholic coffee range, a portfolio of 5% ABV iced teas are also reported to be soon available at Dunkin’. These will include: lightly Sweet, Half & Half, Strawberry Dragonfruit, and Mango Pineapple.
According to reports, the Slightly Sweet flavour will have a “bright, citrus finish,” while Half & Half will be “refreshingly sweet and perfectly balanced.” Strawberry Dragonfruit will be “slightly sweet with bright and exotic fruit flavour,” and Mango Pineapple is “slightly sweet with fresh, tropical fruit flavour.” Each spiked iced tea will be included in the ‘Dunkin’ Spiked Ice Tea Mix Pack’ but only the Slightly Sweet flavour will be available in the 12 oz. four-pack, and the 19.2 oz can single serve option.
There is currently no release date announced for the new spiked teas and coffees, but according to Vinepair, the drinks labels were approved by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) back in May.
There are eight expressions listed on the Dunkin’ Spiked website, but only five have received label approval so far. These are: Original Iced Coffee, Vanilla Iced Coffee, Slightly Sweet Iced Tea, Strawberry Dragonfruit Iced Tea Refresher, and Mango Pineapple Iced Tea Refresher.
This isnn’t the first time Dunkin’ has released an alcoholic product. Two years ago, the company launched three beers in collaboration with fellow Massachusetts brand Harpoon Brewery with all the beers it served being brewed using the brand’s famous coffee and doughnuts.
