David Beckham leaves Haig Club partnership
The media partnership between David Beckham and Diageo’s Haig Club whisky brand has been terminated.
Speaking to the drinks business, a Diageo spokesperson confirmed: “We fully support David’s decision to step away from Haig Club to focus on other pursuits.”
The news follows the Scotch whisky brand’s social media profiles being suddenly set to private this week causing fans to speculate about the end of the union.
Beckham has been the face of Haig Club for almost a decade and starred in a series of advertising campaigns for the brand since 2014.
According to reports, Diageo is now on the lookout for someone new to replace Beckham as the face for Haig Club, however Diageo has denied the claim.
Beckham, the co-owner of MLS club Inter Miami, which recently signed Lionel Messi, includes Haig Club as the official sponsor of the team.
Queries as to whether the sponsorship will continue are yet to be confirmed, though Beckham has been rumoured to have plans o launch his own Tequila.
Diageo’s spokesperson told db: “We look forward to seeing how David broadens his business portfolio over the coming years and thank him for his hard work and commitment to Haig Club.”
