Codorníu invests big in UK market
Cava brand Codorníu plans to become the category leader in the UK, and has announced its strategic investment in the market with a London ad campaign.
Spain’s largest producer of organic Cava has set its sights on the UK, and intends to become the market leader in the Spanish fizz category by 2025.
Having achieved 40% growth in the UK market since 2022, representing a 23.54% slice of total UK Cava sales, Codorníu has launched an advertising campaign to further amplify its presence there.
Last year Codorníu exported 5 million bottles of Cava to the UK.
The adverts will feature on London taxis and buses, as well as in Tube stations, for maximum visibility.
Following a recent image revamp to position Codorníu as a more premium product, the new campaign nods to the brand’s heritage and “commitment to excellence”.
Codorníu has long been a pioneer in the Cava category, advancing the technical aspects of its production by using new press methods, improving stir systems and introducing new grape varieties to the blends, such as Chardonnay in 1984 and Pinot Noir in 2002.
Through the new ad campaign the brand intends to engage both existing Cava fans and consumers who are new to the sparkling wine category. It also wants to communicate the “elegance found in each bottle” ofCodorníu.
Codorníu is the oldest wine and Cava producer in Spain, with a winery near Barcelona. The grapes used in its wines are harvested from the brand’s own vineyards and undergo traditional method double fermentation before bottling.
One of the brand’s mottos is: “We cannot control the future, but we can live in the present. Let’s celebrate more.”
