Tequila brand Cazcabel expands in US
Premium independent Tequila brand Cazcabel has continued its global expansion through entering into the American market.
The move follows the Mexican brand currently exporting into more than 40 international markets. After its launch into the US in February 2023, Cazcabel has now secured distribution in several states including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Kentucky, Kansas, Mississippi, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois.
It now plans to expand distribution to 35 states by 2024 with a US team led by managing partners, Jeffrey Shows and Craig D’Eletto, reporting positive results, notably in Colorado and California. By 2025, the distillery aims for the USA to be their largest export market.
The brand said it is making the move due to the US being the largest and most competitive market for Tequila. Cazcabel has an award-winning range comprising Blanco, oak aged Reposado, and flavoured expressions of Coconut, Honey and Coffee. In the last year, the range has been awarded a Master Award from the Global Tequila & Mezcal Masters and a Master Award from the Global Liqueur Masters.
Distilled in the highlands of the Jalisco mountains, Cazcabel is made by the Vazquez family, who possess four generations of expertise in agave farming and Tequila production. The Tequila is made using seven-year-old, 100% Blue Weber agave, with each bottle showing a depiction of the Jalisco mountains, and will soon be packaged in a bottle made of 80% recycled glass. Due to the upcoming completion of Cazcabel’s new distillery in Atotonilco El Alto, it said now is the ideal moment for the brand to enter the American market, as it will benefit from expanded production capacity.
Speaking about the move, Jeffrey Allen, chief operating officer from leading national distributor and Cazcabel’s contracted partner for both New York and New Jersey, M.S.Walker, said: “We are regularly inundated with new agave projects being pitched to us but when we were connected with the Cazcabel team the brand really caught our attention. The quality of the liquids across the range (Blanco, Reposado and Flavours) is excellent. The value for the customer and ultimately the consumer is hard to beat.”
With the continued growth, Chris Richards has recently been appointed to the newly-formed role of global marketing director, charged with growing the profile of the brand across markets.
He said: “It is a hugely exciting time to be joining the brand, with a truly unique opportunity to work together with the Vazquez family on the development of the new distillery with the mission of supporting local communities and continually improving the sustainability credentials of not only Tequila production but agave farming. This will ensure we’re well positioned to meet the increasing global demand for Tequila for years to come.”
