Wild Turkey and Glen Grant shine at Asia Summer Tasting

The recent drinks business Asia Summer Tasting saw Campari Group brands, which are imported by distributor Metabev, shine during an expert judging process.

The blind-tasting event, which took place last month, saw Wild Turkey take home a number of gold medals and Glen Grant 21 Year Old win a coveted Master award from the judges, led by dbasia editor, Alice Liang.

The spirits were also tasted by expert judges Yu-Kong Chow, a senior food and drink consultant advising multinational companies and government, and Luca Andrei, a cocktail artisan and consultant, who has previously worked as a brand ambassador for Pernod Ricard.

The winners

Wild Turkey 8 Year Old – Gold award

Judge Lucas Andrei described this whisky as having a “special nose” with “roasty and spice notes”, and a “pretty good balance”.

Wild Turkey 12 Year Old – Gold award

Lucas Andrei said this 12-year old bourbon whiskey had a good balance and was “elegant”, and with a touch of savouriness and a long finish, with a “complexity that is interesting”.

Glen Grant 15 Year Old – Silver award

YK Chow’s tasting notes said it was a “simple and straightforward scotch”.

Glen Grant 18 Year Old – Gold award

YK Chow said this Speyside scotch whisky appears to be “more floral”, and the “nose is bit different, not as savoury” but “rather soft and pleasant”.

Glen Grant 21 Year Old – Master award

YK Chow said of this Master award-winning whisky that it “shows good integration of oak with quite a long finish with bits of honey notes in the end”, and that it was “good value-for-money as a 21-year old whisky”.
