The Florida craft beer summer camp everyone is talking about

Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co has brought back ‘Camp Ivanhoe’ — a summer camp for adults where sampling craft beer is firmly part of the agenda.

The Orlando-based brewery has invited adults to relive the fun of their childhood summer camps, but with one ‘grown up’ difference, while enjoying a range of beers in the sunshine.

Camp Ivanhoe, which this year will be hosted from 26 June – 2 July, originally began back in 2020 as a way to help the brewery’s owner, Glenn Closson drum up support and patronage for the brewery during the height of the pandemic. However, the event has proven to be so popular with beer fans, it has now been brought back every year since and has become a fixture on many a craft beer lover’s calendar.

This year, challenges will include games such as “tie dyeing with Tie Dye Rye IIPA” where participants are encouraged to “unleash your creative side during our tie-dyeing activity, accompanied by the bold and flavourful Tie Dye Rye IIPA.”

The beer for this challenge is described by the brewery as a “double India Pale Ale [that] combines the zesty citrus hop flavours with the spicy notes of rye, creating a beer that is as vibrant as your tie-dye creations”.

Next on the activity list is the planned “sports activity with Lemon Lime Gose” with the beer for this challenge being described as a “tart and thirst-quenching” sour that is “infused with the zingy flavours of lemon and lime, offering a revitalising experience after each game”.

Campers can also get involved in the “trivia activity with WAPOW Hazy IPA” which is a chance for any attendees to test their knowledge and “show off your intellectual prowess” while being accompanied by a beer which is “bursting with juicy hop flavours and a hazy appearance” which is set to bring “a punch of tropical fruitiness to the table”.

And lastly, attendees can join in with a planned “science activity with Beer Nerd Cold IPA” which is a challenge that encourages campers to immerse themselves “in the wonders of science” while drinking “a crisp and refreshing IPA” that boasts a “clean malt profile and a burst of hoppy goodness that will captivate your taste buds”.

All participants for activities at Camp Ivanhoe can collect badges to commemorate their accomplishments along the way. Each badge represents a completed activity and if anyone manages to collect all of the badges they will “unlock a special reward” which is rumoured to be “an exclusive branded cooler”
